November Rain

Pune 6:50am. Its raining here today. I am waiting for the company vehicle by the roadside. The sky is overcast and almost all the windows in the area have their lights on. Like me, most pedestrians seem to have been caught unawares and many of them now hurry past holding handkerchieves on their heads, with water dripping from the corners. At the other side of the road schoolchildren in wrinkled red and blue raincoats wait for their schoolbus. On the road itself the raindrops are causing fast bubbles in the sky colored puddles. The vehicles drive past slowly in the grey conditions the bright headlights seem extra yellow, the wipers work overtime to clear all signs of the raindrops that fall flat against the glass. The red tail lights leave a blurred red glow on the wetness of the road.
